Cultural Diversity in the Arts

This is a multi-media workshop will offer a venue for artists of all abilities to come together to network and create a works of art. Occasionally local professional artist and institutions who support the arts will be invited to join the sessions and participate in open discussions and skill sharing with the participants of the group. Also, participants and fellow artists are encouraged to display their works during numerous sessions. The Artist Highlight segments occur towards the end of each bi-monthly meeting.

       The Cultural Diversity in the Arts session will welcome Ellen Maidman-Tanner as our Presenter. “While my work centers on my love of nature and painting with oil paint, I have never lost my other love – that of the human form. Working with both live models and with photography, primarily in graphite, the personality of a sitter is riveting to me, and my portfolio has always contained portraits and figure studies. My work between men and women is split about 50/50, and I have also enjoyed depicting
individuals of a more fluid identification. People, humans, in all their diversity and emotional variety are part of my practice and always will be.”
